PETG (Thermoplastic Copolyester Sheet)

Akyprint - Applications and handling

Today we are talking about Akyprint, a polypropylene sheet made up of three layers. A thermoformed core layer and two solid outer layers, which have the following properties:

-High bubble density that gives it a homogeneous stiffness and differentiates it from other similar products.

-Large bubbles, which ensure its lightness and flatness.

-attractive sandblasted finish to improve printing.

Among its main features, we highlight:

-Stiffness

-Lightness

-Flatness

-Sandblasted appearance

-Opacity

-Easy to machine (cut, drill...)

-Resistant to moisture and chemical agents.

-It is a product suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

-Eco-friendly product

The most common applications are:

-Printing: Akyprint is an optimal solution for digital printing.

-Advertising: it can be easily transformed into displays, boxes...

-Stands: due to its light weight, it allows the use of large format plates.

‍ What is die cutting and why is it important in Akyprint?

The handling of Polypropylene can be done in a simple and economical way using several processes and tools. In this article we want to highlight one of the most used techniques that can give us better results, die cutting.

Die-cutting is a very commonly used mechanical operation for cutting metal sheets, plastic plates, paper or cardboard. The basic elements for performing this task are dies with sharp edges, dies and presses. The die has the shape and dimensions of the hole you want to make, the cutting die is where the die is inserted when it is vigorously driven by the power provided by the press, thus providing a dry and forceful blow on the sheet, obtaining a clean cut of it. The high strength of polypropylene (Akyprint) makes it ideal for being die-cut without cracking or breaking.

By die-cutting Akyprint we can:

-Cut shapes.

-Screase to make folds.

-Drill to create a pre-cut that allows for easy tearing.

-Half-cut, make a partial cut that does not go through the iron.
