Policril Recycled - What is it?
As manufacturers of polycyril cast methacrylate with more than 60 years of experience, our goal has always been: to offer the best quality and service to our customers, in addition to responding at all times to market requirements. We currently produce a wide range of PMMA casting specialties, with a wide variety of finishes and qualities.
The market is increasingly aware of the environmental impact of the consumption of single-use plastic products and materials, so it is essential to change the current production model, based on producing, consuming and then discarding.
The use of materials whose raw materials come from the reuse of waste is gradually becoming a real alternative. In part, thanks to the use of new, increasingly efficient recycling systems that allow an increase in the quantities treated and recovered. All of this contributes to the gradual implementation of an alternative system to the current one, truly sustainable and environmentally friendly, based on the optimization of resources, a circular economy model.
In this new economic and social model, the plastic industry is going to become an essential sector. Its members are making great efforts to evolve and take as their own the objectives of the market: greater respect for the environment and greater optimization of finite resources. Different strategies are being carried out both in the field of product design and in the redefinition of production processes to increase efficiency.
Policril Recycled It is the return to the origins of IRPEN, once again adding to our thermoplastic catalog a cast methacrylate made from recycled raw material.
Already in the 70s, during the oil crisis, our company set up a depolymerization plant that allowed the production of cast plates from recovered acrylic. Once the crisis was overcome and faced with a market that was not aware of the optimization of resources, this line of business was abandoned.
Nowadays things have changed and since IRPEN we are once again recovering this project with the objective of giving infinite lives to acrylic, since the base component, the methyl monomer, due to its intrinsic properties, allows us to recycle and convert it into a new raw material repeatedly without altering the material. In short, we have the ideal candidate for a production model based on the circular economy.
The polymer derived from plastic recovery (whether iron, trimming, etc.) is crushed and, through chemical recycling, is depolymerized, neutralized and distilled to achieve the desired levels of purity. After this process, the base component, the methyl methacrylate monomer, is obtained. From this RMMA and after a new polymerization process, plates are obtained from Policril Recycled.

Methacrylate cast plates Policril Recycled, have equivalent benefits to those of synthetic methacrylate, with the added value of being more environmentally friendly. Well, this process can be repeated infinitely without the resulting plate modifying its properties.
With Policril Recycled we offer our customers new business opportunities, providing them with sustainable alternatives in a market that is increasingly aware of the environment.

Properties
Its acrylic base provides the product with the material's own characteristics:
- Recycled and recyclable.
- Maximum transparency, same physical and mechanical characteristics as PMMA.
- It allows the same manipulation and transformation techniques as acrylic made from pure raw material.
- Reduction of the carbon footprint in the production process
Available range
