Compact polycarbonate of high optical quality.

In this article we will discuss polycarbonates that, due to their characteristics and treatments, offer high optical quality. Among them we can distinguish:

  • Compact polycarbonates without coating
  • Compact polycarbonates with coating

PC 11 ULG1003 - Compact polycarbonate without coatingIt is a transparent polycarbonate plate that offers excellent optical properties and is normally used for lamination with glass in safety glazing. It is a unique product on the market in terms of minimizing visual defects (specks, bubbles, extrusion lines) and low optical distortion. The optical characteristics of PC 11 ULG1003 plates are the result of constant research, exhaustive production control and high quality control according to DIN 52305-A-AZ (optical requirements for vehicle glazing). Although PC 11 ULG 1003 plates are resistant to most mineral oils, greases, aliphatic hydrocarbons and acids in low concentration, It is always advisable to carry out specific tests when the plates are going to be in contact with aggressive chemicals. In those cases where the surface of the plate is exposed to abrasion or corrosive chemical agents, it is recommended to use PC 08 MR5E plates which, thanks to their coating, will give better results.Main features.

  • High optical quality: minimal visual defects and low optical distortion.
  • Material without UV protection
  • Material no abrasion protection.
  • Limited chemical resistance
  • Uncoated plate that can be used in flat and curved applications.

Availability: Standard dimensions: 2050 x 3050 mm.

It is a product that combines the impact resistance of standard polycarbonate sheets with an exclusive surface resistant to abrasion and UV radiation Impact resistance: It is a practically unbreakable product; up to 250 times the impact resistance of glass and 30 times that of acrylic plates. Abrasion resistance:The coating (coating) provides you with a high level of resistance to abrasion. To verify this, there is the Taber test (ASTM-1044/ ISO 3575). This test uses a metal disc that rotates on the plate, controlling the number of cycles that the material withstands. This test is excellent for predicting the behavior of a material in a “high exposure environment.” Chemical resistance: It is a very suitable product in aggressive industrial environments. Its coating protects the plate against most chemicals. If the plate has to be in direct contact with aggressive chemicals, it is recommended to carry out specific tests to verify its suitability. Summary of technical characteristics:

  • Resistant to regular wear and tear and UV radiation.
  • Polycarbonate glazing material backed by a warranty against yellowing, loss of light transmission and coating defects and against breakage.
  • Almost immune to contact with many chemicals, such as cleaning fluids, paints and adhesives.
  • Its unique coating is resistant to painting and allows the material to be restored to practically returning its new appearance.
  • Impact resistance up to 250 times higher than glass and 30 times that of acrylic.
  • Only in flat applications. Due to its abrasion coating, it cannot be bent in cold weather.
  • It has characteristics necessary to pass fire resistance tests required to comply with many regulations.
