PC 20 Sunsystem - Compact polycarbonate corrugated board - Features and possible applications
Corrugated polycarbonate is a very common material in the construction of all types of roofs and pergolas, both for industrial and residential use. It offers many advantages both to the installer and to the end user. Its light weight, transparency and impact resistance are some of its best-known characteristics.
Recently, we have added the PC 20 Sunsystem to our catalog of profiled polycarbonate sheets. It is a compact profile of 3 mm in thickness and a width between axles of 600 mm, which is characterized by a versatile and functional design.
PC 20 offers a modular solution with compact translucent corrugated polycarbonate, its characteristic section gives it a high load capacity, specially designed for all types of lightweight inclined outdoor roofs and canopies. Being able to highlight:
- High light transmission rate
- Good resistance to impact and high loads
- Good weather performance/With UV protection
- Material with good fire resistance (Euroclasses Bs1d0)
- Easy installation, zero maintenance
High light transmission index on colorless plates
The PC 20 profile, in its colorless version, has a very high light transmission rate (90%, higher than that of glass). The material comes in other finishing tones such as solar gray (20% LT) or bluish breeze (70%). In addition, this plate is capable of blocking 99.9% of UV radiation.

Good resistance to impact and high loads
Thanks to its special design, the load capacity of the solution is very high (snow load of up to 400 kg/m2). Therefore, it is only necessary to mechanically fix the plate on the beam of the main structure, without the need to fix it on intermediate straps. The recommended maximum length of the solution is 7000 mm, in case of installations that require longer plates, overlaps must be made.
In addition, being a compact polycarbonate, it is characterized by having very good resistance to impact (hail), making it a material specially designed for installation on skylight roofs, solariums or parking canopies.
Good weather performance/With UV protection

Compact polycarbonate profiled sheets are defined as having protection, through coextrusion, against the action of ultraviolet rays. As a result, they preserve their physical (transparency) and mechanical (impact/load resistance) properties for much longer, avoiding premature degradation (yellowing and increased brittleness of the material). Therefore, they are an ideal solution in outdoor installations exposed to adverse weather conditions (wind, hail, snow, etc.)
Material with good fire resistance (Euroclasses Bs1d0)
In addition to being a self-extinguishing material, it has a perfect fire rating in the range of 2-6 mm available for construction materials, classifying according to Euroclasses EN13501-1 Bs1d0.
Easy installation, zero maintenance
Easy installation, comparable to that of a standard corrugated profile. It should always be done with a minimum slope of 5%, overlapping laterally with other plates of the same profile.
The thermal expansion coefficient of polycarbonate is significantly higher than that of structures and other covering materials, so it is essential to provide systems that allow the panels to expand freely.

The fastening will always be done on the grille and it is recommended to use a hat to distribute pressure and improve tightness. The fixing screws must be selected based on the material of the support and the requirements for strength and durability. The tightening torque of the screwdriver must be as necessary to ensure good fixation and expansion of the panel, avoiding excessive torques that can generate fixed points and deform or crack the polycarbonate.

- Pergolas and kiosks
- Patio covers
- Solarium
- Car parks
