This time, we present to you an urban space for pedestrian traffic that combines spaces of sun and shade. As if it were an urban forest, metallic trees are created with cups of different colors, thanks to our extensive range of shades in Polycyril.

The choice of methacrylate as the covering material for the structure has allowed us to reinforce the concept of a set of sheets with different shades within the same color spectrum. In fact, both cold and warm tones have been combined in this work, all of them with glossy finish quality and great transparency. Thanks to this, the whole can be understood as an ethereal structure that expands in the air.

On this occasion, the location of the installation conditioned the choice of the finish due to the strict requirements it had to meet. It was an environment with an extreme climate, with high sun exposure conditions, high working temperatures, with very large temperature jumps on the same day and with an environment exposed to the abrasive action of sand that required a material whose outdoor behavior was particularly stable and durable. Methacrylate was chosen to meet this set of requirements correctly.

Polycyril, is characterized by being the thermoplastic with the greatest stability to the action of ultraviolet rays without this altering either its physical appearance or its mechanical properties. One of its characteristics most appreciated by designers is the stability of the colors after the passage of years of exposure of the material to the elements.

On the other hand, the behavior of our cast methacrylate against the action of environmental abrasion is also satisfactory, it should be remembered that the response of PMMA to abrasion is up to seven times higher than that of compact polycarbonate without specific treatment.

Another common use of our colored PMMA is to use it as a translucent interior dividing element that creates a space of transition between the access door of a hotel and the lobby of the hotel.

As if it were just another piece of furniture, this fixed translucent cloth is made up of a series of horizontal stripes of matte-quality colors, like a plastic curtain, punctually attached to a horizontal structural pattern. The low weight of methacrylate compared to other translucent colored materials such as glass, allowed the design of an extremely lightweight tubular structure, making the support elements integrated into the whole of the dividing element.

On the other hand, the extensive range of colors in stock of our Polycyril made it easier for the designer to design the element. In this work, 5 different shades were used, so the resulting surfaces by color were very small. This point is extremely remarkable, since the designer was not limited by the minimum manufacturing quantities for each color, which are required of other thermoplastics such as compact polycarbonate.

Finally, we will highlight the easy and quick execution of the dry installation of the material, which allowed the hotel to maintain its normal activity at all times. Not to mention that the material does not need maintenance and the durability and stability of the color are guaranteed.
