Akyver - Multiwall Polycarbonate
Two projects with Cellular Polycarbonate Panel Systems.
Today we present two projects with different uses but which are characterized by the use of our Cellular Polycarbonate Panel Systems combined with different construction materials.Project 1: Hangar at the airport of Sant Fruitós de Bages (Barcelona).Materials:
- Facade Enclosure with Cellular Polycarbonate Panel System IRPEN AK10 20/500.
- Cover with Self-Supporting System of Cellular Polycarbonate Panels IRPEN AK14 16/1000.
In this project, the building combines two uses, the hangar for a light aircraft and the activities of a parachute jumping school. To achieve a large interior space, a metal structure combined with different materials for its enclosures was chosen as structural support: sheet metal, glass and the Irpen Cellular Polycarbonate, these materials help to provide lightness to the whole. On the façade, Cellular polycarbonate AK10, allows you to close the space with 3-meter-high machined panels fixed to the building structure directly by means of staples, the system's own fixings, which facilitate the assembly of the 50 m2 of surface. On the roof, the system has been used AK14, with self-supporting galvanized steel profiles that lighten the building structure. This, together with the panel assembly system and their light weight, facilitate and reduce assembly time. The choice of these façade and roof materials provide the project with:
- Aesthetics: Variety of colors and finishes
- Energy efficiency: Natural lighting, sun protection and attenuation of thermal differences.
- Functionality: Stability, weather resistance and good fire behavior.
- Lightweight and easy to assemble.

Project 2: Sports hall in La Pobla de Lillet (Barcelona)Materials:
- Facade Enclosure with Cellular Polycarbonate Panel System IRPEN AK10 40/500 7 walls, teal color.
For this project, this product has been chosen basically to lighten the enclosing structure, which together with an opaque wooden area, make up the façade of this sports facility. Due to the location of the construction, the 40 mm panel with a 7-wall structure has been chosen, which offers good thermal insulation (U=1.08 W/m2 K), weather resistance (between -40 and 120 ºC), UV protection and good light transmission. In addition, the panels are self-extinguishing, with fire classification B-S2 d0, which makes this material suitable for the type of buildings. The optional direction was decided on the teal panel to give the whole a note of color that stands out with the wood and glass of the rest of the façade and the interior of the building, as well as the structure of the roof in corrugated form with laminated wood. The panels, which are more than 6 meters long, its structure Lightweight, they weigh approximately 4 kg/m2 and its assembly system makes it easy to assemble it on the upper part of the façade. The material chosen is ideal for this work because:
- Its structural lightness and ease of assembly.
- Their aging behavior.
- Its light diffusion capacity.
- Its ease of customizing colors.
