The IRPEN GROUP

IRPEN was founded as the Incorporation of Foreign and Domestic Plastic Waste, starting from a small office in central Barcelona. Our early activity focused on distributing materials for the production of buttons, costume jewelry, trays, and more—laying the foundations of what would become our manufacturing expertise.

We launched our first production plant in Poblenou, Barcelona, marking a new chapter in our journey. From now on, we manufacture pearlescent acrylic sheets in-house—producing ourselves what we once only distributed..

In pursuit of self-sufficiency, IRPEN DESTILACIÓN S.L. was established in Badalona. By recovering acrylic sheet waste from our own clients and using a pyrolysis process, we were able to produce regenerated monomer—the essential raw material at that time.

With the purchase of 8,000 m² of land in La Llagosta, IRPEN POLICRIL S.A. was established. Using Danish technology, we began manufacturing cast acrylic sheets. At the same time, our Corporate Headquarters was inaugurated on Gran Vía de las Corts Catalanes.

We launched Spain’s first acrylic sheet extrusion machine, a German Reifenhäuser, capable of producing sheets 1.5 meters wide. At the same time, we opened branches in Madrid and Valencia.

IRPOL, S.A. was founded in Olot, Girona. In our own facilities, we began manufacturing sheets, discs, and rods of polyester resins for the button industry.

During this decade, we opened the remaining branches in Spain, including Málaga, Sevilla, Vigo, Palma de Mallorca, and Bilbao. We also began importing and distributing plastic materials manufactured in other European countries, such as polycarbonates and PVC. In addition, a new subsidiary was inaugurated in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

We launched IRPEN France in Lyon and IRPEN Germany in Frankfurt. At our IRPOL factory, production began of IR’O, the first Spanish Solid Surface material.

The fully renovated laboratory became operational, aiming to continue offering new solutions to market demands while maintaining strict quality control.

A new reactor line was installed at our La Llagosta factory. Equipped with the latest technology, it enabled a significant increase in production. In February 2010, we began manufacturing IROCRIL, which together with IR’O, forms the most complete and highest-quality range of Solid Surfaces in the country. Additionally, a new saw was acquired for our cutting center at the La Llagosta warehouse, allowing us to offer custom cut-to-size services.

To streamline our service and bring it closer to the Barcelona warehouse, our Commercial Customer Service team (Barcelona) was relocated to La Llagosta, where our factory is located.

IRPEN U.K. relocated to new facilities in Wednesbury, where 1,500 m² of warehouse, showroom, and cutting facilities provide our customers with fast and efficient service. At the same time, our Zaragoza branch’s warehouse underwent remodeling and the installation of a new lighting system.
